WMHA Seeking an Appointed Ref in Chief

Whitby Minor Hockey Association is seeking candidates for the appointed position of Referee In Chief.     

We are looking for Referee who is passionate about the growth and development of Referees within WMHA.  You have strong organization skills and a solid knowledge of the OMHA Rules, Policies and Procedures, as well as the Hockey Canada Official Rule Book and the Hockey Canada Officiating Program coupled with a solid understanding of the various Referee certification processes and requirements.

Your referee and officiating experience, preferably at a high level, will be in accordance with the OMHA requirements and provide you the knowledge and skills to be responsible for the following:

·Recruitment and development of qualified officials in the system to ensure the required number of officials are available and able to support our Representative and House league games

·Provide supervision and guidance to the referees while monitoring their performance and providing feedback to the referees

·Mitigate any officiating disputes and disciplinary issues and provide, to the VP Risk, an outline of complaints and how they were addressed

·Recommend and organize Referee Clinics and coordinate training programs for all referees as required

·Advisor for the Association on matters pertaining to rules & regulations related to referees.

  • Prepare a monthly report for the Board of Directors to include, but not limited to, allocation of referee assignment hours, overview of completed and planned supervision & certifications of officials
  • Coordinate Officials meetings and report back to Association Executive Committee if need be.
  • Attend Board Meetings as requested
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the Association Executive Committee or the President.

·Provide back-up coverage to the Referee Assigner

·Preference will be given to current WMHA officials
