Wildcats took home the Championship
The Atom AE Whitby Wildcats took home the Championship trophy this past weekend at the 43rd Annual SSE London Wild Tournament in London, Ontario. Whitby opened the tournament with an impressive 12-1 win over the Amesbury Avalanche on Friday and followed it up with a 4-2 win over Hamilton Huskies Red and a 9-0 win vs. the Fort Erie Jr.Meteors. The boys then played the Milton Winterhawks in the semi-finals and came away with a 6-1 victory to set up a battle of undefeated teams when they faced the host team, the London Bandits in the finals Sunday afternoon. London jumped out to a 3-1 lead and carried into the third period. Whitby overcame a number of penalities and a difficult London team to pull out the 4-3 vitory and take home the Atom Championship. It was a full team effort that made the coaching staff and parents extremely proud of the boys. Way to go Wildcats!
