Rockets Practice Starting to Pay Off
Whitby ON - The Rockets played the early game today and despite the early start and the thin line up, your Rockets played a solid game against a formidable opponent.

With the emphasis on passing and defense over the last few weeks, the Rockets played hard in both zones keeping the game close. The Rockets defensive corp managed to generate a bit of offence as well with M. Fox getting his first goal of the season and R. Cukoff showing some smart hockey sense keeping the play in the offensive zone. G. Gummow had a great game managing to notch a goal before showing the goal post who was boss - he declared himself fit to play the rest of the game after some attention from his Trainer Dad. A. Orlandi had some great poise and managed to head man the puck a few times through out the game generating some great passing through the neutral zone.

The offence showed some great back checking skills falling back as the Tigers mounted pressure in the defensive zone. K. Boyd had a highlight reel goal for the ages reminding the staff of Bobby Orr's Stanley Cup winning goal....N. Clancy, J. George had their hands full containing the Tigers offence. Some great play in front of the net by D. Davidson, D. Cairns and R Olmstead causing traffic and generating some chances. The game was kept close by some great goal tending by G. Brisbois who stood tall on a couple of breakaways giving the Rockets a chance to break out.

Rockets are back in action this Saturday with a 6am practice IPSC Pad 5 and followed by a late game on Sunday at 915am (IPSC 2)- this will be the final regular season game as the Rockets gear up for a playoff run. Good job this weekend, all the hard work is paying off! GO ROCKETS!
