Whitby Select 6 Messina Captures Silver Medal in Bradford
The Whitby Wildcats Select 6 Messina team captured the Silver medals this past weekend at the Bradford Blue & Gold Classic. Although
the boys were disappointed not bringing home the gold,
they played very hard all weekend and ended up as the silver medalists after a 5-0 loss to the Kitchener Capitals in the Final.
The team sailed through the round robin play with wins over the Leaside Flames Gold (10-2), George Bell Titans (8-0) and Georgina Blaze (5-0) to finish 3-0 and in first place of Pool B. This exceptional play landed them a spot in the Semi-Finals on Sunday morning against Whitby Select 6 Murphy.
The semi-final game was a great battle of the two Whitby squads. Murphy's team jumped out to an early 3-0 lead but Messina's boys rallied in the second and third periods to come away with a 5-3 victory and a place in the Finals against Kitchener
The Whitby Select 6 Babony squad finished in second place in Pool B with a 3-0 record in round robin to also secure Whitby three of the four Semi-Final spots.
It was a great tournament for Whitby Select 6 teams!
