Novice A Blue Brings Home Gold Again
First we would like to start off by saying how exciting was that!!! We are very proud of our Novice A Blue Whitby Wildcats after this weekend's gutsy win in Triple OT to take home the honour of being crowned "Oshawa Hockeyfest" Champions. The weekend started off Friday with the boys toughest loss of the season a 7-2 defeat to a team they had never faced before the Lietrim Hawks. The boys couldn't generate much offence in this game as the Hawks were dominant all over the ice. Putting that game behind them the team came ready to play on Saturday facing the Aurora Tigers beating them 9-3 and generating 39 shots on net while only giving up 9 against. After that it was a team we know all too well this season the Quinte West Hawks.

With a back and forth game evenly matched the boys were able to come out with a 1-1 tie enough to advance them to the semi finals early Sunday morning.  The semi finals game was once again against the Quinte West Hawks but the Wildcats came to play with a shutout performance and great bounce back game by Ronan Miller to earn a 6-0 victory and spot in the final game against the team who embarrassed us on Friday night.  The final game vs Lietrim was a back and forth defensive battle with only 25 total shots through 3 periods of play and a 2-2 tie.  Whitby was able to tie the game up with goaltender Sammy Bliss pulled and 6 skaters on the ice and only 32 seconds left on the clock the boys were heading to OT. 4 on 4 for 3 minutes and lots of chances both teams remained tied, 3 on 3 for 3 minutes still couldn't decide this barn burner. It was the first shift into 2 on 2 OT when Whitby gained possession of the puck skated down into Leitrim's end and with a beautiful pass out front by Noah Murray a great finish by Cohen Redelaar Whitby scored and wins the championship in the triple OT period with a score of 3-2.  Congrats to the boys, coaches and parents who made this exciting weekend possible. Go Whitby!!!
