Atom AE Silverstick Regional Champions!!!
A hockey team is like a puzzle, every piece is vital. The Whitby
Wildcats Atom AE team proved that this winning weekend from forward to
defense to goalies to coaches and to the cheerleaders in the crowd.
Our first game against Georgina Blaze was a fast paced game with a few intense moments, the boys handled adversity very well holding off a charging Blaze team playing short handed for 8 minutes in the 3rd period, 6 of those minutes down 2!, ending in a 2-2 tie.
Our second game we met The Newmarket Redmen and had a win of 5-2. Next up the Belleville Bulls, Whitby got off to a very slow start getting down a quick goal but traditional AE fashion bounced back in the 2nd and 3rd for a convincing 4-2 win taking us to the championship against Georgina Blaze.
Holy moly what a championship game! Two very evenly matched teams played their 10 year old hearts out! The entire game was fast paced with spectacular play from both teams from their goalies on out. The first period ended 0-0. Whitby scored the first and only goal in the 2nd and battled all game long and won the Regional Championship 1-0!!! Game plan was to outwork their opponent, leave it all on the ice, play with discipline, stay positive no matter the situation and have FUN – a well-executed game plan boys!! With the win, the team is invited to attend the International Silver Stick Jan 5-8 in Pelham playing teams from all over North America including San Jose California, New Jersey, Indianapolis and more!! . Way to go wildcats! Congrats to every piece of the puzzle
