Minor PeeWee AA White are the Peter Mancuso November Challenge Tournament Champs!
The Whitby Wildcats Minor PeeWee AA White team travelled to Niagara Falls this past weekend for Halloween and to play in the Peter Mancuso November Challenge tournament and managed to bring the Championship back to Whitby.

The Wildcats started off the tournament with a game against the tournament’s home squad, the Niagara Falls Flyers, managing a hard fought 2-2 tie.

Next up was a Canada-America showdown against the Buffalo Regals with the Wildcats coming way with a resounding 5-0 win.

The final game of the Round Robin pitted the Wildcats against the Orangeville Flyers with 1st place on the line. The Wildcats came away with another shutout, winning 2-0 against an aggressive Orangeville squad.

In the tournament semifinals, the Wildcats squared off in a rematch against the Regals, coming away with their third consecutive shutout in a 4-0 win.

With the tournament championship on the line, the Wildcats played another rematch, this time against the tournament home squad Niagara Falls Flyers. Despite facing a relentless onslaught of penalties, the Wildcats managed to keep the game even heading into the 3rd period. Just over a minute into the game’s final frame, Whitby took a 1-0 lead which was followed immediately thereafter by another Whitby penalty. With the Flyers pressing for the equalizer, the Wildcats scored shorthanded to take a 2-0 lead. However, the Flyers closed the gap to 2-1 just after the penalty expired, making for an exciting final five minutes of action. With game on the line, the Wildcats had to fend off another Flyers power play as well as over a minute of 6 on 5 play with the Flyers having pulled their goalie. With tight defensive play and more great goaltending, the Wildcats held the Flyers at bay to take home the Championship banner.
