The Whitby Fury and WMHA "Score Against Hunger"
Submitted By Jaclyn Morden on Monday, November 13, 2017
Leading up to the holiday season, the Whitby Minor Hockey Association will be working with the Whitby Fury Junior A Hockey Club to “Score Against Hunger”.  This is a grass roots initiative to help eradicate hunger in Durham Region.

From now until December 20th, the Whitby Fury will be collecting non perishable food items to be delivered to Feed the Need Durham.

All teams are challenged to participate.  Check with your Team Manager or Coach to see if your team will be participating. The Whitby Minor Hockey team that collects the most non-perishable food (in weight) will win a team practice for this season coached by Fury head coach, and former Toronto Maple Leaf, Rob Pearson, and his Fury coaching staff. A date will be agreed upon by both parties.  The winning team will also be invited to a Whitby Fury game, enjoy pizza and pop, and conclude the day with a tour of the dressing room and an autograph session with the Fury players.

It is the Whitby Fury's goal, along with Whitby Minor Hockey, to collect two tonnes of food. To kick it off, the Fury Family has already donated 500 pounds of food, which leaves 3,500 pounds more to collect to meet our goal.

The Fury will be collecting the non perishable food items at every home game. All donations will be weighed and logged per team.

If you have a food donation and are unable to bring it to a Fury game, please email Randy Ling at rling@whitbyfury.com or Scotty Nicholson at scottn@whitbyfury.com and arrangements will be made for pick-up.
