2026-27 Prep Skate Registration Now Open – U8 to U18
WMHA Prep Skates are skill focused on ice sessions that prioritize fundamental movements such as skating, passing, and shooting. These sessions are non-evaluative and not mandatory, but they provide a seamless transition into evaluations for many players. Due to limited ice availability, registration is limited to 25 skaters maximum per session!
This year WMHA is providing three high level instructors and their teams to prepare WMHA players for 2026/2027 Evaluations:
U8/U9 MD - Burnsy's Hockey
Jon Burns brings over 25 years of coaching, playing, and teaching to the ice with a team that has a wealth of knowledge. Together they will prioritize the fundamental skills of skating, shooting, and passing during Prep Skates getting our MD hopeful participants ready for WMHA evaluations.
U10/11 and U12/U13
Our U15 AA Head Coach Todd Collins will be putting our pathway players through skill and drills to prepare them for evaluations. Todd is an HP1 Level Instructor and has coached elite athletes for many years. A former NCAA athlete, Todd has coached at the AAA level and has gained notoriety for his fast paced and progressive style. Participating players will be exposed to a high tempo and structured development skate.
U14/U15 and U16/U18
Our AAA Red Hat Champion U11AAA Head Coach Spencer Wight will be instructing our U14 to U18 players through vigorous, purposeful and intense drills. Spencer is a high level on ice skill development coach who will focus on skating technique, attention to detail, and hockey IQ. Players will benefit from high paced and intentional drills that will allow for repetition and preparation for evaluations.

There is no charge for goalies but a schedule will be created to accommodate as many goalies as possible and place them depending on how many goalies are required per session as per the instructors.

To participate in prep skates, participants must be rostered to a WMHA team in the 2025-26 season. You cannot participate if you were part of another hockey association in 2025-26.
Prep skates for all age groups are $100.
Prep skates are not mandatory for any player.
