Whitby Minor Hockey Raises $33,404 to Donate to Hearth Place in Paint the Rink Pink Event
Submitted By Jaclyn Morden on Wednesday, December 21, 2016
October was Cancer Awareness Month and October 29th marked Whitby Minor Hockey's "Paint the Rink Pink" event in support Hearth Place, a center in Durham Region providing community support for people diagnosed with cancer and their families. Through the caring and generosity of the players, friends and families in our community they were able to raise over $33 thousand dollars with 100% of these proceeds being donated to Heath Place to allow them to continue to provide their programming in our community.

We had over 20 rep team that started fundraising over the summer; we sold pink skate laces in the arena through October and even sold pink popcorn on the day of the event, and with the help of our community raised $33,404!  This is another example of our exceptional youth, supportive families and tremendous volunteers that work so hard to not only make Whitby Minor Hockey a great association but to make Whitby a great place to live.

I would like to sincerely thank all of you for your efforts and generosity for making this event so successful.  Stay tuned to our website to come and see the cheque presentation to Hearth Place in the upcoming weeks.
