WMHA Appointed Positions
Submitted By Sandra Perfetti on Monday, August 13, 2018
WMHA is happy to announce the following appointed positions.

Whitby Minor Hockey Announce Appointee’s for positions of Referee in Chief and Director of Player Development

Over the last four weeks, WMHA has undertaken a search to identify two directors;  a Referee in Chief and head of Player Development.  Historically, the position have been filled as part of the regular voting and appointment process at our AGM.  Last year the board recommended a change to this process given the critical functions and oversight these roles play within our association.  Ensuring the association has the right individuals overseeing these portfolios ensures that the development streams for officials, coaches and players would be properly managed.

The search process and posting of these positions out to our membership for consideration began four weeks ago.  Having these positions appointed and not a part of the board ensures a level of impartiality.  The recent postings on the website have resulted in the board offering the position of Referee in Chief to Tom Carter and the position of Player Development to Rico Sirizzotti.

These two individuals have been long standing members and key contributors to our association.  Both have committed and given countless volunteer hours to our association.  The association would also like to recognize at this time the other applicants that applied for these vacancies.   As a group, we are fortunate to have members that are passionate and committed to our program.  While these individual were not considered for their role, the board has taken note of their interest and will look to involve them in streams where their insight and expertise can be leveraged.

Please join us in welcoming and wishing both Tom Carter and Rico Sirizzotti continued success in their roles.

Outlined below is a brief overview of what these successful candidate’s offer to the association:
