2019-20: Coaching Applications and Programming
Submitted By Jane Sedo on Friday, January 11, 2019
Congratulations to our Representative Hockey teams as many conclude their regular seasons and move into the playoffs. Our organization has had a tremendous amount of success in our 75th season with over 70% of our teams in the top three of their respective divisions. This is a testament to our players, coaches and development partners.

In an effort to meet the needs of our Association, the Rep Committee is always looking at ways to redefine and enhance programming to further the development of our players.

With that in mind, Whitby Minor Hockey is putting an increased emphasis on enhancing programming during the developmental years, specifically from Novice to Minor Peewee. These years are critical in establishing a strong foundation where we can further develop our players at the highest level possible.

Historically our organization has had a tremendous amount of success at the Representative A and AE levels. This season is no different with Novice and Atom having both A Blue and A White sitting atop of their respective standings.

Therefore, for the 2019/2020 season, the introduction of a second AA team is being announced for the Minor Atom (2010) and Minor Peewee (2008) age groups. The Atom (2009) age group will be assessed more critically at tryouts to determine if a second AA team is feasible.

The implementation of two AA teams up to and including Minor PeeWee, will be reviewed on a year by year basis.

Whitby Minor Hockey would also like to announce that we are anticipating Novice (2011) will have AAA programming and below. As it stands right now, discussions are being held to determine what levels will be offered and by which centres. Once this is determined we will update the organization with the anticipated levels of play.

With all that being said, at this time we are pleased to open coaching applications for the following levels:

Novice AAA
Novice AA Blue
Novice AA White
Novice A

*It should be noted that Whitby Minor will conduct interviews for all the above Novice aged levels, however the naming of coaches is dependent on programming availability. The naming of AA and A coaches potentially not happening up until tryouts.
