Whitby Minor Hockey Association is seeking candidates for the appointed position of Head of Player and Coach Development


We are looking for a Head of Player and Coach Development who is passionate about minor hockey and the development of all players within WMHA.  In this role you will report to the General Manager and have strong organizational skills and a solid knowledge of the Hockey Canada Minor Hockey Development Guidelines, OHF and OMHA development programs.  This will be coupled with a solid background in coaching at the Representative level and a strong understanding of the importance of House League coaching development.

Your coaching experience will include a minimum of 3 years at the Representative level with the D1 Certified Coaching qualification required.  All required coaching certifications will be in accordance with the OMHA requirements and provide you the knowledge and skills to be successful. 

You will be responsible to:

·       Oversee the procurement and administration of all contracted services that support the development program

·       Coordinate Coaches meetings, in partnership with the House League and Representative Coordinators, and report back to Executive Committee if need be.

·       Oversee the WMHA Coach Mentoring program

·       Participate in the Coach Selection process

·       Advise the Association on matters pertaining to coach and player development

·       Prepare a monthly report for the Board of Directors to include, but not limited to, development contracts, player and coach development initiatives and outcomes and Coach Mentor program

·       Attend Board Meetings as requested

·       Carry out other duties as assigned by the General Manager or the President.


Additionally, you will lead the Development Committee to:

·       Establish, implement and evaluate on ice and off ice technical development programs, in partnership with the House League and Representative Hockey Committees and the General Manager

·       Ensure the Hockey Canada program initiatives are implemented appropriately to ensure compliance

·       Coordinate and facilitate coaching clinics to support the Associations House League and Representative coaches

·       Monitor coaches throughout the year to ensure they are meeting WMHA coaching expectations and to provide guidance and        support
