Province of Ontario Requires Proof of Vaccination for Anyone Age 12+ to Enter Town Recreational Facilities as of December 20th, 2021

Enhanced vaccine certificate with QR code required as of January 4th, 2022

 

On Friday, December 10, the Ontario Government announced new proof of vaccination requirements for Town recreational facilities.

 

Here’s what you need to know:

 

First, effective Monday, December 20,as required by the Province of Ontario,all patrons 12 years and older must be fully vaccinated, meaning they must have both doses of a two-dose vaccine plus 14 days and provide proof of vaccination along with identification on each visit to a Town recreation facility.This now includes youthactively participatinginTown of Whitby registered programs andindoor organized sport(training, practices, games and competitions). Under the new regulations coaches, officials and team volunteers are now required to show proof of vaccination. The provincial policy does not apply to children 11 years old and younger (proof of ID showing name and age may be required).

 

Second,effective Tuesday, January 4, as required by the Province of Ontario, digital or printed QR codes will be required to enter the following Town facilitiesas part ofOntario’s Proof of Vaccination Policy:

 

  • Ashburn Community Centre
  • Brooklin Community Centre
  • Brooklin Community Centre and Library (excluding the Brooklin Branch of the Public Library)
  • Centennial Building
  • Iroquois Park Sports Centre
  • Luther Vipond Arena
  • McKinney Centre
  • Spencer Community Center
  • Whitby Civic Recreation Complex
  • Whitby 55+ Centre

Effective Monday, January 10, individuals with a medical exemption will also be required to show a QR code certificate instead of a physician note.
