Congratulations Whitby Icemen Minor Peewee 2 HL Team 10!
On Dec 28/29, the Whitby “Icemen” (Minor Peewee 2 - Team 10) travelled to Quinte West to participate in the 2015 Highway of Heroes Tournament. A Major Peewee tournament, the younger, and (usually) much smaller Icemen stunned the other 11 teams by winning four straight games. By Tuesday night, they did Whitby proud by being crowned the 2015 Champions of the tournament!

The streak started Monday afternoon with an 8-2 win in the first game against a team from Quinte West, led by James Pedlar netting 5 goals. Later that day, they battled a rough and tough team from Orono, suffered a number of injuries, but managed to pull out a slim 1-0 victory on some strong defensive play and some key saves from goaltender Ashton McLean.

The next day, they struck for 5 goals against the “tallest goalie they had ever seen” in a 5-2 victory against another Quinte West team. This time is was Morgan Gibbons doing the damage with help from his linemates netting the hat trick. In the afternoon, the boys capped off their winning ways in the championship game against a very competitive team from Brighton, winning 4-2. This time the defence took centre stage turning away one scoring opportunity after another and keeping the game under control.

In the end, and over four games, the boys had 18 goals for and only 6 against. More importantly, they played as a team and represented Whitby amazingly well both on and off the ice.

Way to go Icemen!
