Minor PeeWee, 2014-2015, AA (Whitby Minor Hockey)

January 9-11, 2015.   A well played tournament by the Whitby Minor Peewee AA boys this weekend.  With big wins over the Belle River Jr. Canadians, Scarborough Young Bruins and Markham Islanders, falling short versus the Rideau St.-Lawrence Kings, they secured a spot in the semis to face the Waterloo Wolves.   A tight game, but great teamwork earned them a 2-1 victory over the wolves to put them up against the home team in the finals. The WMHA Minor Peewee AA team played a fantastic and energetic tournament this past weekend in Pittsburgh taking home a silver medal and second place trophy. Whitby finished second in the division and found themselves facing the 2002 Canton Victory Honda AA in the finals.  A great final game, with a 2-2 tie at the end of the third period, taking them into a four-on-four sudden death overtime.  Still in a tie following OT, a shoot out was needed to decide the game.  Unfortunatley, we fell short in the shoot out losing 3-1. The Three Rivers Cup Pittsburgh typically draws teams from many areas of the Midwest and southern Ontario. In addition, occasionally will host teams from as far away as northern Ontario, western Canada, Quebec and from all over the United States. The Minor Peewee AA Team is preparing mentally and physically for this tournament with just under a month to go.  On October 24th we will face some new talent.  We will play strong and fierce, and be respectful of our teammates and our opponents. With a 5-1-1 record for the beginning of the season we’re finding our way.  Keep up the good work.  ...

Sunday, September 28, 2014 - It was a beautiful day for a run/walk on Sunday.  Participants of the first annual Ontario Shores Lions Walk/Run for Happiness finished their 1K or 5K in great time.  I'm proud to announce that we raised $260 including outstanding pledges from families that couldn't join us on Sunday.  Thank you everyone for your support.  There is always a good lesson in teaching our kids about giving back, and a healthy way to do it with a run.  Well done boys!
