Atom, 2016-2017, AA (Whitby Minor Hockey)

On Saturday night, the Atom AA team secured the Lakeshore League Championship with a thrilling 4-3 overtime win against the talented Uxbridge Stars.  With their Whitby Wildcat Select 7 buddies enthusiastically cheering them on, the boys displayed the hard work and commitment to team-play that has earned them an overall record of 43-10-7 this season.   The team is now looking forward to cap-off their season in the Lakeshore – York Simcoe Challenge on Saturday, April 8th when they will test their mettle against the York Simcoe League Champions.

This year, the Atom AA team put their combined years of experience to work through a mentorship agreement with the Select 7 Team. The young men on the Atom AA team enjoyed showing the younger boys the ropes on the ice as they participated in a joint practice, where they demonstrated how hard you have to work to achieve success. 

The Whitby Wildcats Atom AA team struck gold at the Edge Again Cup this Thanksgiving weekend.  A 2-1 record in preliminary play earned them the second seed in the Semi-Finals where they toppled the Gloucester Rangers for the second time in the tournament. They went on to face the Garden City Falcons in the Final on Sunday.  Strong team play enabled the boys to dictate the pace of the game and dominate the Falcons with a 5-0 victory.  Congratulations to the coaching staff for leading the team to this early season success.
