Under 14 Select, 2021-2022, U14 (Whitby Minor Hockey)

Another nice win last night in Aurora with a 6 - 5 Victory over the U15 team. Jesse Burke lead the way with a 'natural' hat - trick that included the game winning  goal. Cooper Carey, Cole Cheverie and Aiden Hodgkinson also scored. Assists by Connor Kanellis, Cole Cheverie, Tyler Ivankovic, Chase Gallacher and Brandon Shook. 

Over the past few years this 2008 age group has had a very difficult time beating the Oshawa RS Select team. Tonight, the team came out firing on all cylinders to a quick 3 - 0 lead in the first period and ending in a fantastic 5 - 2 victory over OSHAWA. 

Our Wildcats took on a U15 team from Aurora and worked on their offensive skills with several shots on net and many scoring opportunities that gave us 5 goals. Aiden Hodgkinson started off the scoring with a great goal, along with Tyler Ivankovic and Chase Gallacher. Jonah Morales scored two goals 11 seconds apart.

Our U14 team entered in to a U15 tournament over the March break. The team came away with two ties and a 1 goal loss. The U14s were always in the game and honestly had a chance to beat all 3 teams that we faced. Only 1 team was able to beat us and it came off a couple of bad bounces. 

5 - 1 beatdown against Kingston A week after the team's first loss of the season they were able to turn things around in a very big way. Our wildcats came out strong with a quick goal by Tyler Ivankovic. Kingston responded with a goal of their own and then there was no turning back for the rest of the game...

This past Friday the U14 team decided to take a bus to get through the snow on our way to Kingston. It was a fun time and a great way to bond especially since what hockey has been through in the past few years. Unfortunately a 2 hour bus trip took its toll and we gave up a costly goal in the first few minutes of the game. The Wildcats were able to get one later in the contest but lost by a goal.

WHITBY 2 KINGSTON 1 (Shoot-out victory from a 0-0 draw) We could not ask for a better way to get our season going with an incredible victory over the Kingston Canadiens to earn Whitby the CHAMPIONSHIP in our first tournament !!!. It was a hard fought game that had to go to a shootout...
