Minor Atom Blue, 2014-2015, A (Whitby Minor Hockey)

For the first time, the Wildcats have won the Minor Atom A International Silver Stick Tournament in Newmarket.   Our Minor Atom A Blue team showed tremendous resiliency and determination to win throughout the entire tournament.  They endured through a very tough schedule, continued to battle after dropping the first two games, and came from behind twice in a great semi-final against the Nepean Raiders.  The players defeated the Erie North Shore Storm 3-1 in the final by doing outstanding work to contain the Storm offense and capitalize on their own scoring chances.  This is a tremendous ...

The Minor Atom A Blue team completed a clean sweep in Cobourg at the Regional Silver Stick Tournament last month. They defeated the Nepean Raiders 2-0 in the final game to take the Championship Banner home to Whitby. The team played an impressive tournament throughout the round robin and were outstanding in the semi-final game against the very strong host team from C‎obourg. The players showed their determination to succeed in every game and have earned their invitation to compete in the International Silver Stick Tournament in January. 

The Whitby Minor Atom A Blue team finished the third week of the season with their perfect record in place, winning all three of their games. On Wednesday night, before a packed house at Iroquois Park, the team played an excellent game against Whitby White.   On Saturday, they hosted the Port Perry Predators at Iroquois 1 and came away with another strong win.  Finally, Sunday saw the team travel to Napanee to face the Stars.  They played a great road game at the Strathcona Paper Centre and came away with a win. Our Wildcats finished the second week of the season with another strong win against the new Port Perry Predators at Scugog arena on Sunday.  The host team played a strong defensive game with some outstanding goaltending and were able to capitalize on their scoring chances to make for an exciting first half.   However, despite all their efforts it wasn't enough to stop the relentless pressure from Wildcats who controlled the play for most of the game and have started to move the puck quite well in the offensive end.

The Minor Atom A Blue team started the season well this weekend with 2 wins against Pickering and Clarington. On Saturday afternoon our Wildcats hosted the Panthers at Iroquois Park and came away with very good win against a strong team from Pickering.  After taking a 2-0 lead early, Pickering battled back and tied the game at 2 at the beginning of the third period.  Our guys kept up the intensity and with 59 seconds left we scored our 3rd goal which finally decided the game.   ​Sunday saw our team in Clarington at South Courtice Arena.  Our players played very well as a team, and were ...
