Classic Playoff Tilt Gets Fans Going
Whitby ON - your Whitby Rockets showed up to play today in what will surely go down as one of the greatest playoff battles of Novice House League Hockey. Both teams came to play today and both offences ran into some solid goaltending.
Rockets goalie G.Brisbois played a solid game behind one of the best defensive efforts these Rockets have put forward with the entire team taking responsibility for their own end. The coaches were saying that was classic Rocket hockey. The Rockets offence ran into a brick wall in Team 9's goalie as he turned away shot after shot that were directed his way. The lone Rocket goal came off a rebound in which T. O'Donnell was set up right where he was supposed to be. A sustained attack in the offensive zone led to numerous chances but the oppositions goalie stood tall. Great efforts by forwards N. Clancy, K. Boyd, and D. Cainrns at both ends. The story was really the Rocket's defense including great plays by J. Alcido, R. Cukoff and M. Fox - keeping the other team hemmed in and getting back to break up developing plays. C. Smith had a highlight end to end rush but couldn't solve the other teams goalie. An exciting finish to a tie game as Team #9 had a lot of pressure in the last minute but your Rockets were up to the challenge. It was a great battle and fans of both teams certainly got their admission fee's worth. Rockets are back at it next weekend with Saturday morning practice at 7 am (IPSC 1) and a game against the first place team Sunday at 9 am (IPSC 3).
