Rocket's Tough It Out....
Whitby, ON - The Rockets suited up today for game that had Championship ramifications without their top two goaltenders who were enjoying some well earned r&r.
The call went out out to T. O'Donnell to cover the Goal position and he came to play. Posting a stellar performance - O'Donnell kept the Rockets in this game - taking the first shot he faced square off the cage - and covering the rebound to mitigate the oppositions attack. Shout out to Mike O'Donnell' who let his kid play goal against the deadliest sniper in tier two house league hockey.....O'Donnell had lots of help - his defensive core of C. Smith- G. Gummow, M. Fox and the Bobby Orr'esque J. George kept the opposition offence to the sides limiting the quality shots.
The line of N. Clancy, A. Orlandi and R. Cukoff had a great game today buzzing the net and generating quality offensive chances. Cukoff with that million dollar smile like a kid having fun went off the charts for 5 assists and managed to bang in a couple was on fire...
K. Boyd, J. Alcido and D. Davidson - were a force to be reckoned with as they protected their end and added some offence as well - J. Alcido was lights out, skating and competing with the top line from the opposition - K. Boyd took care of the defensive zone - and was moving the puck well today. Davidson - had the team going leading the Go Rockets Go cheer kept coaches and players in the game. It was a solid game all around.
The Rockets would like to congratulate all players, parents and coaches in Novice 2 for a fun season and a special shout out to the coaches/volunteers that braved early mornings and cold weather to make sure these kids got to have a bit of fun and compete. It's a beautiful game.
