Atom Blue, 2015-2016, A (Whitby Minor Hockey)

Over the Christmas break the Whitby Atom A Blue team participated in the Silver Stick tournament in Brampton.  The tournament hosted great teams from all over the region who would prove to be tough competition.  Fortunately our players answered the call and played some of their best hockey of the season.  After starting with a key win on day one, the team improved every game and made it to the championship game against Milton.  During the final game the boys played extremely well but unfortunately it wasn't quite enough against a Milton team that took the lead in the third period and went on ...

This Christmas the Atom A Blue team continued our tradition of “Kids Helping Kids”.  During this holiday season we partnered with the Durham Children’s Aid Society to make sure six children in three local families each have a great Christmas.  On Monday, November 30 the team delivered gifts along with a donation to the Children’s Aid Society to be distributed to our adopted families in time for Christmas. “We believe in the importance of teaching kids (regardless of their age) how they can positively impact the lives of others in the community.”    - Amanda McIlhone

The Atom A Blue team had a very successful Thanksgiving weekend in Peterborough this year, skating away with the championship yesterday morning. In the final game against the Oakville Rangers the team did a great job protecting an early lead against the fast-skating Rangers and added a final tally in the third period to win the game and the championship 3 - 0.  On behalf of the coaching staff, I'd like to thank our players, parents and sponsors for making this tournament a great success.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month for the Canadian Cancer Society and on Sunday afternoon against the Clarington Toros our players started wearing pink laces and stick tape to show their support for the cause and raise awareness about this disease.
