Atom, 2016-2017, AE (Whitby Minor Hockey)

Together Everyone Achieves More   and that’s what the Atom AE team proved from the start of their OMHA playoffs. The team has definitely worked hard in playdowns. The first playdown went to five games with four games being shutouts against Oshawa Generals. On to our next series against Northumberland Nighthawks where they swept the series in three games. Next on the road to the red hats for our semifinal match up was the TNT Tornados.

A hockey team is like a puzzle, every piece is vital. The Whitby Wildcats Atom AE team proved that this winning weekend from forward to defense to goalies to coaches and to the cheerleaders in the crowd.

The Atom AE Wildcats went undefeated at the Orillia Jim Wilson Winter Classic this past weekend. It was an early start on Friday November 11 when the boys boarded the Whitby Fury bus for the day. Our first game was against the hometown team.  We won with a 6-1 win over the Orillia Terriers. The boys made each parent proud when they stood on the bus for a moment of silence at 11:00 and then proceeded to stand while we played Pittance of time. Effort-Dedication-Teamwork is what the Atom AE team showed this weekend at the Edge Again Cup. Our first victory was over Ajax with a score of 10-2, up next was the Markham Waxers where the boys won 11-4. Saturday mornings game against TNT Tornados brought us our first loss 2-7. Our boys found their strength for the semi finals that afternoon against Markham Waxers and won 8-2. The team was ready for our rematch against TNT. The final game was a nail bitter, 1-1 going into the third period, Whitby scores late in the third 2-1. TNT pulled their goalie but Whitby stayed strong and came out on ...
