Whitby Rally's for Gilly...
The Whitby Minor Midget “A” team is in Rochester this weekend at the Empire State Showdown.
The team started their first game with only 12 skaters but thanks to three goals from Devin Gilligan (“Gilly”), won the first game 4 to 2. At the end of the first game, while stepping off the ice into a rut in the rubber pad surrounding the rink, Gilly broke his leg in two places. Our thoughts are with Gilly and his family as he recovers. 1-2-3...Gilly!!!!
In response, now with 11 skaters, starting each period with a “1-2-3 Gilly...” the boys have dug deep and have rallied to take the second game 2 to 0 and the third 4 to 2 to end round robin play in first place. Today, the boys celebrated their wins with Devin at the local Rochester hospital where he is recovering well.
