WILDCATS TAKE SECOND PLACE IN HALTON HILLS "BEST OF THE BEST TOURNAMENT" THANKSGIVING WEEKEND.
This past weekend the Minor Atom A White team participated in their second tournament of the season. The boys were up against tough competition.  Not having played any of the teams before the boys were ready to show our new competitors  how the Wildcats play.

Our first game Friday afternoon against the Oakville Rangers was played hard. With both teams having fantastic goaltending and strong defence we managed to go toe-to-toe with the Rangers ending the game in a 2-2 tie.

Early Saturday morning we played against our host the Halton Hills Thunder. With an outstanding showing, we once again ended the game in 2-2 tie.

Going into our second  game of the day we paired against the Riverside Rangers.  From the time the puck hit the ice until the buzzer ended the game the Wildcats were unstoppable.  Our forwards showed outstanding leadership while our defence and goaltending created a wall of strength. Team momentum was strong, our players skated hard and fast. Minor Atom A White took the victory 6-1 sending us into the Semi-finals.

Headed into the semi-finals Saturday evening we found ourselves paired against the Riverside Rangers once again.  Both teams wanted to go to the finals and the game was intense.  As the score went back and forth, both teams matched goal for goal and the Wildcats needed to give it all they had if they wanted to advance.   Our boys united and finished the game winning 5-4 and sending us to the finals.

On Sunday afternoon we battled against the Oakville Rangers for Gold .   For three periods the Wildcats and Rangers pushed each other and never gave up.  At the end of the third period the game was tied 4-4.  We battled for an additional five minutes in overtime but neither side was able to score.  To determine a winner,  our boys were instructed we would now be having a shoot-out with each side having five attempts to score.

This was the first as many of our players had never participated in a shoot-out.  With mixed feelings of both tension and excitement, each side took turns trying to score.  The shoot- out ended with the Rangers scoring and ending the game.  Minor Atom A White played amazing and proudly took their Silver medals back home to Whitby following this past weekend's "Best of the Best" Halton Hills Tournament.
