Thank you all for your hard work and dedication to the program this year, all of your dedication and hard work paid off!!!!! With a 4-3 win last night on home ice at IPSC(2) the Wildcats claimed their first "Red Hats" and were crowned OMHA Champions in the Novice A division.

In order to get there the Whitby Novice A Blue team had to overcome a tough series against
the Oshawa Generals that tested the boys practice jersey motto this year which was
"Winners Never Quit". It was a hard fought series that showed great back and forth
action between the two teams which ended up going the distance to 5 games seeing
Whitby gain the edge in a 4-2 victory that moved them onto the semi-finals.

There was no time to relax for these boys as it was time to face the
Clarington Toros who were a tough team all regular season for these boys but
Whitby really came to play and after sweeping the first two games the third
was a goal scoring duo for the ages that ended up seeing your Wildcats win
an 8-7 victory in OT in game 3 to complete the sweep and move on to the
finals for the chance to avenge a losing regular season record versus the
Uxbridge Stars.

Game 1 was a real barn burner and goalie battle in Uxbridge that ended with
Whitby on top in a 2-1 OT victory. Back to Whitby for Game 2 the boys came
up short being defeated 3-2 in the last minutes by a strong Uxbridge
performance. Game 3 saw Whitby start off by taking control of the game early
by scoring on their first shift and going up 3-0 in the first period. We
went on the win game 3 by a score 5-3 but had to battle right to the last
minute as Whitby took a late penalty and Uxbridge pulled their goalie for a
6 on 4 advantage that lasted for 1 and a half minute serge in Whitby's end
but strong team play helped them keep the puck out of the net for a chance
to win it in game 4.

Game 4 was back and forth seeing Whitby go up early 1-0 which didn't last as
Uxbridge scored the next 2 goals and Whitby found themselves down 2-1. Again
the boys battled and scored 3 straight goals to lead the game 4-2 but
Uxbridge wouldn't go down without a fight and scored with 5 minutes left to
make it 4-3 and put the pressure on Whitby to maintain the 1 goal
lead.....When the buzzer sounded it was Whitby Novice A Blue who were on top
and your new 2017 OMHA Champions.

We would like to recognize and Congratulate Broden Shea who was named
Whitby's MVP!!
